Four Essay Samples From Compass Release - Marcus Buckingham
Four Essay Samples From Compass Release - Marcus BuckinghamThe Compass Release: Four Essay Samples by Marcus Buckingham is an excellent essay goal-setting guide. However, it does have some flaws that I believe detract from its ability to do its job. Some of these problems are not as serious as others and I'll go over them in this article. The first flaw I'll mention is the use of an inner compass to help guide your focus. The problem with this concept is that it does not address the real issue, which is whether or not you have identified your true strengths and weaknesses as opposed to just focusing on a false sense of what the author calls 'GPS' capabilities. This compass concept will not allow you to grow as a person and become successful in life. The second flaw is when the author states goals are like a compass released from a compass. We all know that goals aren't that simple and it's true that not all people will identify their true strengths and weaknesses. Unfortunately, the au thor never explains why there are people who will have trouble even looking at their weaknesses and how to stop this. Without this issue addressed, the compass concept will not be effective. The third flaw I'll talk about is the topics of the essay samples cover. The author mentions five topics and I'm not sure why they are categorized in this way. In most cases, the topics I reviewed were not very specific, sometimes being more generalized than anything else. For example, one article I read talked about someone's journey to 'own what they believe in,' whereas another article I read talked about a person's life being transformed. As I stated before, this is a basic guide, but you need to realize the material may be too complicated for most people to understand and apply it in their lives. Some will find it too general or too specific, depending on their needs. The important thing to keep in mind is that these concepts are necessary if you want to become successful. Without them, you'l l only end up frustrated and confused. The last flaw I'll mention is the fact that the four goals mentioned are not even about goals. The author talks about developing a 'will power' and how that can be applied in order to achieve goals. Although this article does touch on this concept, the article discusses more about 'personal values.' Again, there was a lot of generic and generalized material in this article, making it a complete waste of time. The Compass Release: Four Essay Samples: This review did not go into great detail about the essay samples included in this book. However, I will be discussing them briefly and will be coming back to them later. The first essay sample is titled 'Question: Who is your rock?'It discusses the main concept of the book and how this is very similar to the ultimate life philosophy. This may be a great title for the first essay sample, but when you consider the other topics discussed, it may be a waste of time.
